One of the main goals of the Future Farmers of America is to prepare its members for career success and life experiences in their future. This is offered through different outlets to participate in such as impromptu, prepared and extemporaneous speaking, Parliamentary Procedure,  Dairy Products, Cooperative Marketing, Livestock Judging, Veterinary Science, and, as many  members of the Santa Clara Section have recently exhibited, Job Interview.

The Paradise Valley Home and School Association, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, purchased and sold 1,780 poinsettia plants from La Esquina at 152 in Watsonville, raising $9,500 to help fund the Mission Springs Science Camp adventure.

What inspires you?

Instead of welcoming a new trustee to the dais Dec. 8, Morgan Hill Unified School District’s governing body could not come to a consensus on any one candidate to replace former Trustee Amy Porter-Jensen and refused to use a coin flip to break the 3-all tie among its current six members.

Daily emails demanding his resignation are what Morgan Hill Unified School District Board of Education President Bob Benevento endured over a period of several months as a pair of recall community activists tried to pressure him into stepping down from the dais.

Two former school district board members, a retired school administrator, a charter school board president and four other local parents have thrown their names in the hat for the vacant seat on the Morgan Hill Unified School District’s Board of Education.

A trustee on the Morgan Hill Unified School District’s governing body sent out numerous emails to a former community activist with insulting remarks and satirical innuendoes about four fellow board members and the superintendent.

With a promise from its leadership to take measures to establish a more diverse student population, the Charter School of Morgan Hill was unanimously approved for a new five-year extension by Morgan Hill Unified School District’s board of education.

In his official response to the notice of recall filed by the local community group, Parents 4 Positive Change, and served to him Sept. 15, Morgan Hill Unified School District’s Board President Bob Benevento issued the following statement, which was filed Sept. 24 with the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters:

With a staff recommendation for approval, Morgan Hill Unified School District’s board of education will convene for a special meeting to vote on the Charter School of Morgan Hill’s petition renewal at 5 p.m. Sept. 29 inside the Live Oak High School Theater.
