What inspires you?

A move to officially reprimand a school board trustee for his highly publicized and damaging email escapades that were exposed late last year was thwarted Feb. 2 when the six-member governing body deadlocked 3-3 on whether to take action.

Two Morgan Hill Police Officers interrupted tonight’s Morgan Hill Unified School District Board of Education meeting and briefly detained School Board Trustee Rick Badillo after receiving a call that he was carrying a concealed weapon.

In an unprecedented move in Morgan Hill, the local board of education will vote Feb. 2 on whether to pass a resolution to “censure” one of its own trustees.

As the lone tuba player in the Martin Murphy Middle School band, 13-year-old Aaron Osborne did not have anyone to measure himself against. He had only picked up playing the large brass instrument one year earlier after being introduced to its sound by a family member.

The Rotary Club of Morgan Hill recognized 10 outstanding Morgan Hill Unified School District elementary and middle school students Jan. 20 during a special luncheon ceremony.

The Live Oak Foundation, a community organization founded to promote academic excellence in the Morgan Hill Unified School District, distributed $45,000 in grant money for the 2015-16 school year.

What inspires you?

The California Student Opportunity and Access Program, widely referred to as Cal-SOAP, will conduct six “Cash for College” workshops to assist low-income students and their families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Cal Grant GPA Verification forms required for Cal-Grants.

Morgan Hill Unified School District staff welcomes parents of incoming sixth and seventh grade students to a pair of Middle School Orientation Nights at the end of January and early February.
