Child Safety Fair
Home Depot held its annual safety fair for children Saturday, Oct. 7, with the help of the Morgan Hill Police Department, California Highway Patrol and the Santa Clara County Fire Department. Parents and their children learned about safety in the home, child safety identification kits and other topics while having fun with police officers and firefighters. Home Depot also supplied crafts for kids to make and pumpkins for them to take home.

Newsom vetoes Anderson Dam bill
Valley Water this week began draining Anderson Reservoir in preparation for a seismic retrofit of the body’s dam in east Morgan Hill, but Gov. Gavin Newsom also vetoed a state assembly bill that would have expedited the project that the water district has been planning for more than 10 years.

About eight months ago, Morgan Hill resident Willy Van Cleave’s close friend committed suicide. Almost immediately, Van Cleave, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and has been retired for a few years, decided he had to do something for the nation’s veterans.
