Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday revealed what he called a new, more “stringent” four-tiered reopening system that allows counties to open their economies depending on their case and test positivity rates.

As of Aug. 20, Santa Clara County health officials have reported 428 cases of Covid-19 in Morgan Hill.

As of Aug. 12, the Santa Clara County Covid-19 data dashboard shows that there have been 13,059 cases of the virus here since the pandemic started. The total death count from the novel coronavirus is 207 in Santa Clara County.

In an effort to regain control of the Covid-19 pandemic, Santa Clara County supervisors Aug. 11 voted unanimously to create a new tool for a group of enforcers by using a combination of warnings and fines rather than criminal penalties.
