Northern California Football Association has named Gavilan quarterback Nate Ellis its Offensive Player of the Week.

Today kicks off the last time the Frys.com Open will be in San Martin for at least a year. The tournament is moving to Napa next year, meaning this is the last chance to view the season opening tournament for a while.

If this is the last time the Frys.com Open is going to be played at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin — the tournament will switch to the Silverado Resort’s North Course in Napa next year with an option to return to the South Valley area in 2015 and 2016 — then it’s been an incredible four-year journey.

One week after playing one strong half of football against highly ranked Costa Costa College, the Gavilan Rams made enough big plays in both halves to pull out a 33-29 non-conference victory over the College of the Redwood Corsairs Saturday afternoon.
