Letter to the editor: County road will finally be repaved

As a long time resident of over 30 years, I got some news that portions of a county road in Morgan Hill city limits is finally going to be repaired!

Letters: Protesters endanger downtown diners

On Saturday, Aug. 29, a large group of unmasked Trump demonstrators walked through the outdoor dining areas along Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill. There was no physical distancing and they shouted slogans across our dinner plates.

Letters: Forest management, Tech Center, salon closure

We want a future where we can grow responsibly, attract strong talent, and provide a safe and affordable community to our employees.

Letters to the editor: Run for office or speak up

During such a challenging time for the City of Morgan Hill, it is disappointing to learn that the current mayor is running unopposed in the next election.

Guest view: Time to remove police from schools

There comes a time when each of us comes to terms with aspects of life that can change our views and challenge long held beliefs. For me it is the present issue of police in schools (school resource officers).

Guest view: Wear masks properly

Not wearing a mask properly is like double dipping your chip at a party. Double dipping is not cool and neither is wearing a mask improperly.

Guest view: Deal lets Bay Area counties off the hook

Charitably, officials in five wealthy Bay Area counties erroneously—but in good faith—miscalculated how local property taxes were divvied up among local governments and schools. A more jaundiced view is that five county auditors disregarded state law and state Department of Finance guidelines and grabbed hundreds of millions of dollars in “excess ERAF” funds that were supposed to go to schools.

Guest view: Enjoy Freedom Fest at home

It all begins with a broadcast of the Patriotic Singers on July 3 at 6pm. Then, we move into the grand celebration on July 4. At 10am, we will bring you a full live celebration, which will include: over 200 horses, 300 band members and singers, a dozen classic cars, two dozen marching groups and floats, along with special messages from local first responders and essential workers.

Guest view: Anderson Dam is top priority for water district

Our top priority remains an effort to retrofit and strengthen Anderson Dam, home to Santa Clara County’s largest reservoir, so it can safely withstand a strong earthquake.

Letter: Investigate dietary guidelines

With 60 percent of Americans diagnosed with one or more chronic illnesses—conditions which increase the risk for severe outcomes and death from Covid-19—the U.S. now more than ever needs evidence-based advice on how to maintain and restore our metabolic health.
