A memorial service will be held on October 29 at Glad Tidings Church in San Juan Bautista at 11 a.m.Ann Powell passed away on September 8 surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by: her daughter, Sharon (Robert) Cole; son, Steve Hatfield and brother, James (Jewel) Moen. Ann is also survived by: her granddaughter, Mackenzie Cole-Hignel (Shyloh) and grandsons, Justin Cole, Jeff Hatfield (Jackie) and David Hatfield. She also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 21, 11:00 AM, at St Julie Billiart Church in San Jose. A reception will follow. Private interment will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park.Mary Kawakami Yokoyama, age 82, of San Jose, entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2016. Mary was born in Denver, Colorado, in 1934, to Kenzo and Margarita (Mungia) Kawakami. She met her husband, Shigeru Yokoyama in San Jose. Their 56-year marriage was a model for all couples. Mary believed in education and hard work. She was the first in her family to go to college, SJSU. She mentored students in Migrant Education across the MHUSD in her long teaching career. Family was important to Mary. She left the paid workforce to raise her children. Mary instilled her love of reading, often taking them to several libraries in a day. Mary took pride in cooking from scratch, most famous for her apple pie.

McCabe Road in Santa Nella, California.Dorothy Edna Angell, age 88, passed away of natural causes Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing Facility in Hollister, California. Dorothy dedicated her life to her husband and family. Ms. Angell was the mother of two children. She was an avid golfer during her golden years. Dorothy was an excellent wife, mother, and neighbor. Her husband, Robert Clinton Angell, precedes her in death.Dorothy is survived by: her daughter, Susan A. Angell of Long Beach, California; son, Robert W. Angell and his wife Teresa Angell of Davis, California; her two granddaughters, Leilani D. Angell of Napa, California and Michelle A. Angell of Cambria, California.
Robert Howard Elam February 21, 1931 – September 24, 2016
A Celebration of life will be held on October 8 at 1P.M. at The Vetrans Hall on 74 West 6 Street, Gilroy, CA. Robert Howard Elam known as Howard, 85 of Gilroy, CA, passed away September 24, 2016. He was born in Arkansas and came to California in 1944 and lived in Salinas, until he met his wife LaDonna Hogue Elam in 1964. Howard worked as a truck driver subhauler for Ball Construction running 10 wheelers building Interstate 5. Few years later, he started his own company Howard Elam Trucking for 60 years. Running big loaders, cleaning out cow and chicken manure to blend composted material for the farmer's land. He never could retire. He loved Nascar, and watching his grandsons play baseball and football, never missing a game, and watching his youngest race cars. He is survived by his wife LaDonna of 52 years, daughters Dena Elam (Dave Robeson) and Dwan Elam, grandsons Branden Elam (Sydne), and Kanoa Cordiero, brothers LG Elam (Pauline), Ben Rohrschieb (Linda) and many nieces and nephews.
