What inspires you?

In a continuing effort to change the landscape of Morgan Hill Unified School District schools, the local board of education unanimously approved the transition of Paradise Valley Elementary School into an engineering focus academy for the 2016-17 year.

The year in education in Morgan Hill provided its own narrative that kept taxpayers, parents and even students scratching their heads, wondering if local elected trustees would ever be able to agree on what’s best for about 8,600 children who attend district schools.

A 12-acre plot of land nestled within an affluent northeast Morgan Hill neighborhood is again targeted as the future site of a new $20 million public elementary school, according to school officials.

What inspires you?

Morgan Hill Unified School District officials announced Dec. 16 the inaugural team of teachers in charge of easing the transition of sixth graders moving from elementary to middle school campuses for the 2016-17 school year.

Parents can submit intradistrict transfer request applications beginning Thursday, Jan. 7 to the Morgan Hill Unified School District’s headquarters located at 15600 Concord Circle.

In an unprecedented show of solidarity, the heads of two local unions, a third from an education leadership organization, plus longtime community members, retired educators, parents and even students, took turns at the podium Dec. 15 calling for the resignation of a school board member.

While Morgan Hill Unified School District’s Board of Education is still without a seventh trustee and will be for some time, the remaining six members will try to come to a consensus on several key items on the agenda for the Dec. 15 meeting.
