San Martin/Gwinn is Victorious Again

SAN MARTIN/GWINN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL fifth-graders, under the direction of teacher TIM DOWNER, participated in the CIVIL WAR DAYS SCHOOL PROGRAM at Roaring Camp Railroads, in Felton, May 23.

Spotlight of the Week: A Day at the Capitol

NORDSTROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL teacher KEN FARRELL'S fourth-grade class went on a field trip May 2 to Sacramento and visited the Railroad Museum, Sutter's Fort, Old Sacramento and the State Capitol. While at the Capitol, the class met Lieutenant Gov. John Garamendi who took time out of his busy schedule and talked to the class about his job. The children really enjoyed the opportunity to meet the Lieutenant Governor.

Non-Profit Center Receives AAUW Grant

The Morgan Hill-based Learning and Loving Education Center, a non-profit organization that provides education and skills for previously underserved families, has received a $7,000 Community Action Grant award from the American Association of University Women Education Foundation.

Rotary Awards Scholarships to College-bound Students

Seventeen local high school seniors were awarded college scholarships by the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill at ceremonies on May 9.

FBLA Leadership Conference

Active Live Oak High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members recently returned from the annual California State Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. There were students, advisers, and officers - 1,560 - in attendance from throughout the state. The conference featured more than 50 different business and business-related events as well as workshops, business tours, and theme park visits.

‘Guys and Dolls Jr.’ at Oakwood Schools

Students of Oakwood High School and Oakwood Middle School will present the "Guys and Dolls Jr." play at 7pm, Thursday and Friday in the Oakwood Theater, 105 John Wilson Way, in Morgan Hill. The production is the schools' annual spring musical and is open to the public free of charge. The production is a student version of the classic tale of loveable New York City gangsters in the 1940s.

New Phone Number for P.A. Walsh Elementary

Beginning May 25, the phone number for P.A. WALSH ELEMENTARY will be 201-6500. A new system is being installed at the school, and a change of numbers was required.
