Ida E. Camino was born September 8, 1916, in Davenport, CA to Giovani Chiri and Caterina Beltrando Chiri. She passed away on March 30, 2010, in Morgan Hill surrounded by her family. She was raised in San Martin, CA. In 1935 she married Ernest J. Camino and raised their family in Gilroy, CA.

Ida is survived by her children, Raymond Camino (Marcia), Jeanne Maggiora, Linda Elia (Robert), and Michael Camino (Kathy). She is also survived by her grandchildren Thomas Camino, Carrie Bailey, Maria Maggiora, Cynthia Parmenter, Christopher Maggiora, Stephen Elia, Michael Elia, Jeffrey Elia, Richard Reyes, Julie Martin, Lori Camino, Toni Manning, and Michael Camino. Ida also is survived by 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Joseph Chiri and Andrew Chiri, her son-in-law Martin Maggiora, her grandson Kenneth Camino, and her great-granddaughter Stephanie Camino.

Ida helped run her husband’s business, Camino Plumbing, in Gilroy for many years. Ida was involved with CLAS, acting as Secretary for many years. She was also heavily involved with the Italian Mothers Club of Morgan Hill, holding several offices. In her retirement years she learned how to bowl, becoming an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing cards (Pedro) at the Senior Center. Ida also enjoyed taking trips to Reno with her husband and the Seniors.

A service to celebrate Ida’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth Street, Gilroy, CA. A private burial will be held at a later date.
