Ruth Marie Ayala passed away Monday, at her home at the age of 85. Mrs. Ayala was born in Santa Maria and was a resident in San Juan Bautista and also Hollister.

Ruth spent her time by the side of her husband and family. She was a fixture at Plaza Market helping her husband in their grocery business. Her husband, Louie, and family were always on her mind.

Ruth was a member of Mission San Juan Bautista. She had a great love for animals and was always sensitive to animal needs. Ruth was also an excellent cook and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Ayala is survived by her sons, Louis P (Glenna) Ayala, Jr., Ronald P. (Marilyn) Ayala and Fredrick J. Ayala, daughters, Barbara A (Edward) Gonzalez and Cynthia M. (Richard) Vasquez all of Hollister and sisters, Catherine Torres. Pearl Lopez and Geraldine Sanchez, grandchildren, Tara (Adam) Mendolla, Aaron (Amica) Ayala, Kendra (Brian) Barrett, Heather Ayala, Ryan Ayala, Andrea Ayala, Nathan Ayala and Nicole Vasquez all of Hollister. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.

Friends may visit Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011, from Noon to 8:00 P.M. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. The funeral services will begin Thursday morning from the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. proceeding to Old Mission San Juan Bautista for a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. Burial and graveside services will follow at San Juan District Cemetery.

Contributions are preferred to the American Cancer Society, S.P.C.A. or Spiritual Bouquets (Masses) at Mission San Juan Bautista are preferred.
