Gavilan kicks 17 players off team
Gavilan College removed 17 out-of-state football players—all but one of them African American—from the team and campus last week, claiming the athletes had received prohibited transportation, housing and food benefits and were improperly recruited.
Training for bigger and better
Gavilan College women’s basketball announced the signing of four players to four-year universities. The playoff qualifying team did so thanks in no small part to the four players who helped solidify one of the stand out seasons for the Rams, but also helped to usher in a new group of freshmen who will take over the program next year as sophomores.

Men’s Basketball: Rams continue to show improvement
The Gavilan College men’s basketball team continues to show improvement in year two under coach David Kaplansky. The Rams (3-6) recently won back-to-back games, beating Ohlone-Fremont 69-58 on Dec. 4 and Merced 82-71 on Dec. 8. The victories came off the heels of a four-game losing streak.
