Dear Appalled, check out the comments on our Web site (www.morganhilltimes.com) regarding the signs and you’ll see others do feel the same. Red phone contacted Joyce Maskell, Business Assistance and Housing Services downtown project manager, who said the $170,000 paid for the fabrication and installation of 65 directional and parking signs, as well as the design of business directory maps that will soon be placed in downtown kiosks.
“The sign project was publicly bid and awarded to the lowest bidder,” Maskell said. “Bid proposals ranged up to $399,000, so we think we got a pretty good deal.”
There you have it, good caller. Hope that answers your questions and that years from now you and others will come – if not to appreciate – then at least put up with the directional signs.
