after a lengthy illness.

Oscar moved to Gilroy at the age of 14, attended Gilroy High School, did a short stint in the Air Force, returning to marry sweetheart Rosalie Perry. Oscar and Rosalie went on to raise seven children together. Oscar was often seen attending his children’s and then grandchildren’s sporting events.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Rosalie, and infant daughter Tina. He was the beloved father of Ken Burns of Gilroy, Cindy and husband Paul Karpinski of Gilroy, Manuel and wife Nancy Burns of San Martin, Karen Ahumada of Gilroy, Robert and wife Vera Burns of Morgan Hill, Kristi and husband John of Sutter Creek, and David and wife Lisa Burns of Gilroy. He is survived by his grandchildren John and wife Amy Karpinski, Karah Karpinski, Jimmy Karpinski, Danielle Silva, Jordenne Burns, Jesus Burns, Lindsay Allumada, Jason Allumada, Zachary Burns, Griffin Burns, Andrew Winter, Matthew Winter, Katie Burns, Michael Burns and Anthony Burns. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Kody Karpinski and Sydney Karpinski his mother Gertie Phillips and brother Clark and wife Carol Dotson of Gilroy.

Funeral Services were Tuesday under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home. Burial followed at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park, Gilroy.
