Britton softball

The Britton 8th grade girls softball won their fourth consecutive East Hills league championship with an exciting 12-8 come from behind victory over Bernal School.

The six time league champions scored nine runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning to catapult to the title.

Pitcher Shannon Bryon-Brown won her tenth game of the season. Hitting stars in the title game were Lexy Nuno, Jocelyn Davis, Tanya Ferry, Holly Turay and Chere Rae Prejean.

The team was coached by Jim Green, George Acosta and Jeff Bernardini.

The Bobcats have now won forty-four straight games over the last four seasons, six league titles and possess a school record of 78-6 in the eight years in the league.

Gymnastics

On Sunday, Amanda Suniga, 10, a Level 5 gymnast from Morgan Hill Gymnastics competed in the Northern California Zone 8 Championships in Monterey.

Northern California is divided into nine zones. Each zone hosts a championship at the end of the season for their top gymnasts to compete against each other.

The top scorers from each zone championship qualify for States, where they will compete against the other top gymnasts in Northern California.

Suniga scores on Sunday qualified her for the State Championships. She received her highest bars score ever with an 8.775, and received season-high scores on beam 9.000 and all around 33.775

Suniga took 10th overall, placing seventh on both floor and beam, ninth on the bars and 15th on vault.

Suniga will compete at the State Championships in Rancho Cordova on Nov. 23.
