Spotlight of the Week: Project Happiness

MOUNT MADONNA SCHOOL juniors and seniors with faculty member WARD MAILLIARD answer questions during the April 18 'Journey of a Lifetime' panel discussion at The Granary at Morgan Hill. The event, hosted by LOCAL DEVELOPERS AND ARCHITECTS LESLEY MILES AND CHARLES WESTON, featured the students speaking about topics of leadership, values, education, their personal school experiences and travel, including a recent trip to India, where they met with the president of India, the Dalai Lama, and U.S. Ambassador David Mulford.

Nominations Sought for History Teacher of the Year

‘Glimpses of India’ Benefit Homeless Programs

MORGAN HILL RESIDENT DAYA RAMAN and SITARA ETHIRAJ, chose EHC LifeBuilders as the beneficiary for their PRESENTATION HIGH SCHOOL Platinum Project. For the project, Daya and Sitara organized and presented "Glimpses of India," a dance concert featuring classical and modern Indian dance. The students raised hundreds of dollars to benefit EHC LifeBuilders, a nonprofit organization which champions quality of life and stability for people in crisis and those experiencing homelessness in Santa Clara County. Daya volunteers at the homeless center in San Martin on Monterey Road.

Rotary Outstanding Achievement Awards

ANDREW POONIA and AMANDA NARANJO won the Outstanding Student Achievement Award April 4 presented by ROTARY CLUB OF MORGAN HILL.

MORGAN HILL RESIDENT ANDRE' THOM, a junior at MONTE VISTA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL in Watsonville, has been honored with a President's Volunteer Service Award.

MH Resident Receives Academic Honors

Morgan Hill resident Lacey Green, a student at NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY majoring in journalism, has been named to the university's dean's list for the fall semester, which ended December 2006.

Spotlight of the Week: Live Oak Student Earns Scholarship

Andrew Wisneski has been named recipient of the JAMES PARK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. Andrew is a senior at LIVE OAK HIGH SCHOOL. The scholarship is given for volunteer activities in the Veterans Administration. Andrew volunteered at the VA Hospital in San Francisco for the past year. There were several scholarship recipients but Andrew was the top recipient and will receive a $20,000 scholarship. He will go to Pittsburgh, Pa., in May and will be presented the award at the VA national meeting.

MH Residents Perform in Valley Christian Play

MORGAN HILL RESIDENTS DANIEL HUFFMAN, BRIANNE FLIPPO and BRITT ABRAHAMSON, students at Valley Christian High School, performed in the school theater's spring musical "Guys and Dolls" last week.
