Spotlight of the Week: Rotary Club honors two students for academic excellence
Los Paseos Elementary School student Ryan Miller and Nordstrom Elementary School student Joshua Hawkins were honored with Rotary Club of Morgan Hill Outstanding Student Achievement awards Dec. 5.
Spotlight: Live Oak’s Emerald Regime 2007 Class A champions
The Emerald Regime Marching Band and Color Guard were awarded first place after their performance Nov. 17 during the Western Band Association Class A Championships in Woodland Hills.
Spotlight of the Week: Martin Murphy Middle School’s 22nd annual Turkey Trot
Martin Murphy Middle School held its 22nd annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 16. The school-wide event included students, faculty and staff. They ran or walked a one-mile course. Eighth-grader Vanessa Guevara kicked off this year's race by singing the National Anthem. Coordinator Dan Scudero worked hard to arrange a fun and successful event for the Martin Murphy community with excellent student participation – 90 percent of the 640 students. Parent participation was also high, as they volunteered during the event and donated gift cards, electronic items, goodies, and other prizes.
Spotlight of the Week: Mayor serves ‘spooky’ lunch
Morgan Hill Mayor Steve Tate visited the Central Continuation High School campus on Halloween to help teacher David Craig cook hot dogs and hamburgers for Central students. Central Interact students also joined in to help serve the barbecue lunch.
