Dr. Michael Dennis Dennehy, 56, died after a prolonged battle with depression. Mike went to great lengths to protect his friends and family from knowing the intensity of his personal suffering and succumbed to his illness on May 5, 2009.

It is the communitys out pouring of love, affection and sincere regret at his passing that stands as the most meaningful memorial of Mike’s life.

Dr. Michael Dennehy was born of the late Robert Dennehy, and Helen Lee Dennehy on January 20, 1953 in Colorado. As the oldest of six ”doorstep” children, Mike was his mother’s right hand man and his father’s pride and joy. From his earliest years, Mike never lacked generosity and was ready to do whatever it takes to help family and friends. One look into Mike’s eyes tells the story of a uniquely sensitive man who cares deeply about others.

Mike went to Mora High School and graduated from Palma High school in 1971. Always a high achiever, he graduated from USC in 1982 as a Doctor of Dental Science. Soon after, Mike began his dentistry practice in Hollister where he has been serving families for over 26 years.

Mike is survived by his mother, Helen, and his only son Bobby who currently attends Sonoma State and Bobby’s mother Valerie. His siblings include brothers and sisters: Timothy (Minneapolis), Kevin (Modesto) Patrick (Washington), Mary ( Salinas), and Catherine (Las Vegas) and his good and faithful friend Cathy Mackie (San Juan Bautista).

Mike is at Peace. Certainly, he is awestruck by the outpouring of love from his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14th at 2:00 P.M. at St. Benedicts Catholic Church 1200 Fairview Rd., Hollister followed by a gathering in his honor. At Mike’s request, his cremains will be prayerfully strewn across the Monterey Bay through a private ceremony.

Bobby Dennehy requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Dorothy’s Kitchen @HYPERLINK http://www.dorothysplace.org www.dorothysplace.org or in care of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister 95023
