The Morgan Hill Unified School District will host simultaneous community input meetings, regarding the use of Measure G funds within the district, at 10 different school locations from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 29.
In an announcement, entitled “Your Voice Matters!,” which can be viewed on the district’s website, www.mhu.k12.ca.us, MHUSD outlines the two-fold purpose of the community meetings.
The first purpose reads, “we will be sharing information about our school’s successes and plans for the future.”
The second reason for the meeting is “to hear how you define a quality education for your child — what programs and facilities would you like to see — and how parents and the community can support a quality education for all children.”
The school site principal and at least one district representative will be present at each meeting.
-Parents from Barrett and Nordstrom elementary schools are instructed to attend Barrett Elementary (895 Barrett Avenue).
-Those with students at Britton Middle School as well as Live Oak High School and Central Continuation High School can head to Britton Middle (80 West Central Avenue).
There will also be meetings at:
• El Toro Elementary (455 East Main Avenue)
• Jackson Academy for Math & Music (2700 Fountain Oaks Drive)
• Los Paseos Elementary (121 Avenida Grande, San Jose)
• Murphy Middle School (141 Avenida Espana, San Jose)
• Paradise Valley Elementary (1400 La Crosse Drive)
• San Martin Gwinn Elementary (100 North Street, San Martin)
• Ann Sobrato High School (401 Burnett Avenue)
• P.A. Walsh Elementary School (353 West Main Street)
Measure G is the $198 million bond approved by residents in November 2012 by a 64 percent vote. The first series of funds being used, or Series ‘A’, calls for the disbursement of $55 million.
The Board of Education approved the first $7 million issuance in March to begin the modernization of the old Burnett Elementary School, located on Tilton Avenue and vacant since 2009, which will be the new home of Central High for the 2013-14 school year.
Other summer projects, not yet voted on by the board, include the construction of a multipurpose room at the Charter School of Morgan Hill, fencing at Britton Middle School and various roofing projects at other facilities.
