A summer departure by Morgan Hill Unified School District’s director of special education has created a domino effect of in-house promotions, according to a pair of July 19 press releases.
Los Paseos Elementary School principal Jenna Mittleman has taken over for Rose Dumond as the interim special education director, while Barrett Elementary School teacher Debbie Stewart was chosen as Mittleman’s replacement in heading up Los Paseos, also with an interim tag.
“I am thankful to have served at Los Paseos and am looking forward to this new opportunity within MHUSD to follow my passion for helping all students to be successful in their academic pursuits,” said Mittleman, who has been with MHUSD since 2002.
Stewart, who joined MHUSD as a teacher in 1996, had been at Barrett since 2001 after moving over from San Martin/Gwinn Elementary School.
“I am a teacher above all else,” Stewart said. “But I am inspired by the idea that, as an instructional leader, I can support teachers and students and continue the work of creating dynamic student-centered classrooms.”
