Maria Teresa Delgado Perez passed away peacefully through the gates of heaven on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 12:10pm in San Jose, California. She was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.
Teresa’s two sons, Carlos D. Zapata and Regulo Zapata Jr, and his wife, Delia Haro Zapata all living in Gilroy, California. Teresa is preceded in death by her mother, Irene Delgado, and two brothers, Roberto Delgado and Fructuoso R. Santos Delgado. Her only living brother is Tomas Delgado who lives in San Antonio, Texas.
Teresa was a Spanish language singer entertainer of Mariachi music known as the “Adelita del Norte.” Performed in the US and Mexico in her younger days during the 1950’s. Teresa was blessed to have been able to publish and record two records of her songs in Texas.
Teresa was a business women, loved to cook Mexican food and was a restaurant owner. The name of her restaurant was called “Mi Terra Cafe”, in Littlefield, Texas. Many Hispanic musical singing artist would come to visit her at the restaurant.
She loved being with her grandchildren Cesar Zapata, Kristin Filice, Laura Zapata, Steve Zapata, Paul Zapata and loved her five great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass and Burial were held on April 28, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church and Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio, Texas.
