Manuel P. Vierra passed away in Hollister, August 2, 2012 at the age of 90 years. Manuel was a native of Santa Clara, CA, and a resident of Hollister for the last 76 years.

 He was a farmer for most of his life (50 yrs), and upon retiring worked for San Benito High School as a custodian. His memberships included Sacred Heart/St. Benedict’s  Parish; the I.C.F., the S.D.E.S, I.D.E.S, Knights Of Columbus, Brotherhood of St. Anthony, Farm Bureau, and the American Legion.

 He enjoyed various trips and cruises with his family and his wife Dolores prior to her passing on May 31, 2011, especially to the Madera Islands to see where his parents lived.

 Surviving are his daughters Rosanna Oliveira (Joe) of Santa Clara and Shirley Vierra of Hollister; grandchildren Joey Oliveira of Santa Clara and Melanie         Oliveira-Stevens (Jeramy) of Sunnyvale; his daughter-in-law Judie Vierra of Tres Pinos ; several nieces and nephews and the family pet Bella. He was pre-deceased by his son Kenny Vierra, his brother Jack Vierra, and sister Margaret Carlisle. “He will be missed immensely by his family”.

 Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7th, 2012, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will leave the mortuary Wednesday morning at 10:30 A.M. for a Mass of the Resurrection at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum with honors provided by Hollister Post No. 9242, V.F.W. Donations to St. Benedict’s Church or Community Pantry are preferred.
