Holiday Lights Contest starts soon
The City of Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation Department invites residents and homeowners to participate in the Holiday Lights Contest. Entrants are encouraged to get creative in their efforts to outshine their neighbors with the best and brightest holiday lights displayed in Morgan Hill.
The entry deadline is Dec. 9, and drive-by judging will take place Dec. 12-16. Registration is free, and available on the city’s website at https://tinyurl.com/mr2xfs6w.
Entries in the Holiday Lights Contest will be judged on three categories: most creative, best use of effects and “merry and bright,” says the city’s website.
Entrants of Holiday Lights Morgan Hill grant permission for their homes to be photographed and displayed on the City of Morgan Hill Government and Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation’s social media pages, as well as the City of Morgan Hill’s website, city staff said.
‘Christmas on the Hill’ starts Dec. 8
West Hills Community Church in Morgan HIll invites the public to the fourth annual “Christmas on the Hill” lights extravaganza this holiday season. The free walk-through outdoor event features a vast array of Christmas lights, hand painted life-size displays, themed decorated Christmas trees, light tunnels and free hot chocolate and popcorn.
At the top of the hill, visitors on the tour can sit and relax to a synchronized musical light display.
“We’ve been blown away by how many people in our community have enjoyed the Christmas lights and celebrated the Christmas story at Christmas on the Hill,” said David Frederick, Pastor of West Hills Community Church. “Join us this year as we celebrate with beautiful lights and a breathtaking view,” says David Frederick, Pastor of West Hills Community Church.”
The walk-through-lighted journey starts at the church’s mid-level parking lot, continues through the lighted tunnel, and finishes with spectacular views of Morgan Hill. Accessible parking is available at the top of the hill.
“Christmas on the Hill” takes place 5:30-8:30pm Dec. 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 and 24. West Hills Community Church is located at 16695 DeWitt Ave. in Morgan Hill.
South Valley Symphony performs Dec. 14
The South Valley Symphony’s winter concert will take place 3pm Dec. 14 at Advent Lutheran Church, 16870 Murphy Ave. in Morgan Hill. The program includes Kyle Jones’ Christmas Concertante for Horn and Orchestra, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Winter Wonderland and more.
