John passed away peacefully in his home after an extended illness.
John was born to John and Albina Grimsich in Zuzemberk, a small Slovenian village. They immigrated to Chicago when John was 14 months old. He and his parents enjoyed being part of an active Slovenian community in south Chicago.
After serving two years in the Army, John attended the University of Illinois and received a BA in Advertising Design. He moved to California in 1955 and began a long career in technical publications at Lockheed.
John married Virginia Yeggy in 1957 and they began their family in San Jose and were members of St. Francis Cabrini parish. In 1969 the family moved to Morgan Hill where they enjoyed many years in a rural setting with numerous animals. John served on the City’s Parks and Recreation and Planning Commission.
John leaves behind Virginia Grimsich, his wife of 60 years and their five children Lynnette Kaashoek (Garth), Darcy Bennett (Gene), Connie Grimsich (Greg Katz), John Grimsich (Karen) and Greg Grimsich (Claudia) and ten grand children: Owen, Alex, Cy, Jon, Sam, Amelia, Anica, Will, Maya, and Ludo. John will also be missed by his brother Daniel Grimsich (Sylvia), and many nieces and nephews and their children.
