Jeanne Ashe passed away peacefully at Hillview Convalescent Hospital in Morgan Hill, CA on her 90th birthday. Jeanne was born in Lincoln, NE to Lewis and Nellie Yoho. The Yoho family moved to the San Jose area in 1920. Jeanne attended San Jose High School where she met Ralph W. Ashe. After graduation she worked as a photographer for the Lamplighter Studios in San Jose and Sacramento. Jeanne and Ralph were married on March 6, 1938. Jeanne was an active participant of San Jose Rebekah Lodge #87 and became a District Deputy President in 1951. In her travels through the state of California Jeanne and her team were honored by many lodges, with their drill team performances. Joshehine Rebekah Lodge #14 of San Jose honored Jeanne with her 50-year pin in 2006. Jeanne with her husband and four daughters moved to Gilroy in the summer of 1952. She worked as a dinner house waitress in the Gilroy area for 35 years. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Ralph Ashe, her loving daughter Dorothy and son-in law Vince Massaro of Wooster, OH; her adoring sister Virginia Pat Boone. She is survived by her sister Betty Triant of Henderson, NV; sister-in-law Gerturde “Trudy” Lewis of Paradise, Ca; daughters Barbara Ashe of Gilroy, Susan (Leroy) Lemberger of Dos Palos, and Malinda (Ed) Filice of Templeton, CA. Loving grandchildren Steve (Angie) Massaro and Patricia Massaro of Wooster, Oh; and Wes (Terri) Massaro of Gardner, KS; Darla (Gordon) Contival Jr. of Gilroy, Lori (Michael) Castello of Hollister, Scott Lemberger of Chowchilla, Jennifer Filice of Salinas, and Nicolas Filice of Templeton, CA; great-grand children Mike and Malissa Castello of Hollister, Brooke Contival of Gilroy, CA, Mark and Jess Massaro of Wooster, OH, Owen and Eric of Gardner, KS. Many nephews, nieces, family and friends will gather at Pacific Mobile Estates Clubhouse at 500 W. 10th Street in Gilroy, at 1:00 pm on Saturday August 18, 2007 to celebrate her life. Our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the nurses and staff at Hillview Convalescent Hospital for the loving care given to our friend and mother. All will miss her stories.
