Known to his friends as Jack, he was born in Deer Range, AL. He was stationed at Moffett Field before being shipped out to North Africa during WWII. While in California, he met Wilma, his wife for 65 years. He worked at FMC Corporation for 30 years, where he was known for his precision.

In his earlier years, he played and taught guitar, was an Amateur Astronomer, and a formidable chess player.

He is survived by his wife Wilma Rowland, three daughters, Janet Bradford, Karen Yinger, and Barbara Snyder, six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at 7:00 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey St, Morgan Hill.
