Born to John and Augusta Justino in San Leandro, CA, he grew up with two sisters and one brother. His father was from Madera, Portugal and his mother from Maui, Hawaii. After graduating from San Leandro High School, he joined the Navy to serve in the Pacific during WW II. He returned to marry the love of his life, Helen Mendonca.
They started a poultry ranch and apricot orchard in Hayward and in 1960 moved to Morgan Hill. They continued the A&H Quality Egg Ranch with 100,000 chickens, providing fresh eggs locally and distributing to grocery stores throughout the county until their retirement in 1989. He was a hard working man who never complained, and yet knew how to have a great time with his friends, whether it was square dancing, fishing, dinner at the elks, or his weekly coffee shop date with the guys. He loved his family above all else and enjoyed all the family get togethers. He was at all his grandchildren’s games no matter what the sport to cheer them on. We shall all miss your big smile and wise advice about life.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen, of 65 years, his son Gary and daughter Janice (George Guglielmo); four granddaughters, Cristina (Christopher Maggetti), Alisa (Craig Whitt), Michelle (Tim Maccarra) and Jennifer; and three precious great-grandchildren, Isabella and Alexander Maggetti , and Lily Guglielmo Whitt. As well as, one sister, many brother and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
