dominance in preseason with a 40-36 win over neighboring school
district rival Martin Murphy.
The Britton ninth grade boys basketball team continued its dominance in preseason with a 40-36 win over neighboring school district rival Martin Murphy.

Jeff Clark, who had 19 points for Murphy, hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Kyle Mosbrucker led all scorers with 23 points.

The Britton team is 8-3 in preseason, and will play Murphy again at home tonight at 6 p.m. before the season opens Saturday against Hollister.

The freshman will start a triple-header at 11 a.m. on Saturday before the Live Oak JV and varsity games at Hollister on Saturday.

The Britton eighth-grade team (3-2) plays at 3:30, and the seven-grade team (2-3) plays at 4:30 p.m.

On Friday, the freshmen girls (4-3) defeated Watsonville 39-28 and will open up League Thursday at Hollister.

The eighth-grade team finished up at 8-3, and the seventh-grade team finished the season with a 4-7 record.
