A memorial service is to be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave. San Jose, beginning at 3:00 P.M. Following the service, friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Joe Vanoni, at a reception at Buca di Beppo’s, 925 Blossom Hill Rd., San Jose, beginning at 4:30 P.M.  Long-time Gilroy resident Joe Vanoni passed away Thursday, July 11th, 2013, surrounded by his family in Benson, AZ., after a long battle with cancer.
 His wife, Leola Ann Vanoni, his son U.S. Air Force Major Joseph Vanoni, his daughter-in-law Dianne Vanoni, and his grandchildren Ian and Madison survive Mr. Vanoni. Mr. Vanoni’s extended family includes his mother Maria Vanoni, seven brothers and sister and more than two-dozen nieces and nephews.
 Today they are mourning the loss of their beloved; a man who worked tirelessly to care for others and ensure future generations were provided with every opportunity for achievement.
 Joe Vanoni was born in Turin, Italy before moving to the United States in the early 1950s.
 After living and working throughout Europe and the western United States, Mr. Vanoni moved to Gilroy in the late 1970s. Once in Gilroy, he built J.V. Electric, a successful electrical contracting business, which he operated for more than twenty years.
 Additionally, Mr. Vanoni actively volunteered at the Garlic Festival, with Adams 4-H and with the Gilroy FFA. After retiring in 1999, Joe and Ann eventually settled in Benson, AZ.
 During retirement, they remained active volunteers while traveling across the United States sightseeing, sport fishing and visiting family members and friends.
