Dominic J. Lomanto, Sr. passed away in Hollister at the age of 87. He was born in San Jose and lived all of his life in Hollister. He married his wife, Betty, in Minden, NV in 1948, served his country honorably during WWII in the US Army and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He worked as a self employed farmer and as a buyer for San Benito Foods. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Hollister Elks Lodge, The Gourmet Club and liked golf, Pedro and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Lomanto of Hollister, his children and their spouses, Kristy Marcus (Don) of Hollister, Dominic Lomanto Jr (Nancy) of Hollister and Russ Lomanto (Sarah) of Paso Robles, his grandchildren, Audra Porteur, Dana Hearne, Richard Marcus, Adreana Porteur, Ryan Bergamini, Raegan Lomanto and Aurora Lomanto and his great grandchildren, Briar McCorkle, Spencer McCorkle, Hollyn Hearne, Tyler Marcus, Olivia Marcus, Hailey Hearne and Estella Walker. He is also survived by his caregiver, Menchie Kalaw Barzaga of Hollister. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbie Stevens, who died in 1991 and his 10 brothers and sisters.

Friends can pay their respects on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home chapel. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 AM to go to St. Benedict’s Catholic Church for a Rosary and Mass at 11:00 AM.

The Hollister Elks Lodge will perform the ritual during the Mass. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.

A reception will follow the services at the Hollister Elks Lodge.
