Shortly after announcing his retirement from Morgan Hill Unified School District, Assistant Supt. of Educational Services Ramon Zavala was selected as the 2019 Administrator of the Year by the California Association of Bilingual Education.

Each year, CABE honors “one exemplary administrator who has made contributions to bilingual education through their excellent work, dedication and leadership on behalf of English Learners,” according to the CABE website. Other honoree categories include Teacher of the Year, Para-Educator of the Year, and Parent of the Year.

“Dr. Zavala is an ardent advocate for English Learners and providing them opportunities to develop multilingual skills and academic success,” said MHUSD Supt. Steve Betando. “We value his knowledge of English learner pedagogy and the mentorship he provides principals and his staff in Educational Services.”

Zavala will be honored at the annual CABE Award Luncheon on March 21 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
