Members of the Morgan Hill community joined the staff and students at Charter School of Morgan Hill on Feb. 1 to celebrate World Read Aloud Day at the Monterey Road campus.

Every year, on World Read Aloud Day, people all around the globe read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right that belongs to all people.

Students at CSMH were joined by Morgan Hill City Manager Christina Turner, City Councilmember Yvonne Martinez Beltran, City Councilmember Larry Carr, Morgan Hill Man and Woman of the Year Brian and Kathy Sullivan, MHUSD Trustees Vanessa Sutter, Mary Patterson, Heather Orozco and John Horner. Visitors read their favorite books to students. San Jose State football players, San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl champion Rhett Hall and local firefighters also joined in to read, laugh and ensure that students and families recognize the power of reading.
