A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25th, 2013, at 12:30 P.M., at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Street, Morgan Hill CA. Reception to follow at China Palace in Morgan Hill.
 Tomo Yamada passed away peacefully on October 18, 2013, in Fremont, CA, surrounded by her loving children. She was 84 years old.
 Tomo was born in Tokyo on June 10, 1929, to Tsurunosuke and Yoshi Kato.
 She met the love of her life, Tatsuo Yamada, when he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. They married and made their home in Morgan Hill, CA in 1956, where they remained until his passing in 1996 and she was placed in assisted care in 2003.
 Tomo was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother and a devoted friend to many.
 Tomo worked for Tamura Ranch and Kajiko Nursery in Morgan Hill and went on to retire from Valley View Packing Co. in San Jose after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
 She loved to knit and crochet, to garden, and to travel with her sisters. She will be remembered for her big smile, her generosity and hospitality.
 She is survived by her children: Susan (Rick) Castro of Gilroy, sons Stan and Sam Yamada, both of San Jose; grandchildren Nate Burton of Gilroy and Emily (Mike) Eguchi of Santa Clara; and great-grandchild Amilia Burton; sisters Anne Dunn of Bealeton, VA and Masako Naush of Las Cruces, NM; brothers-in-law Roy and George (Fusako) Yamada of Morgan Hill, Henry Yamada of Corona CA, sister-in-law Lily (George) Matusbara of Fresno, as well as many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Japan.
