Student of the week: Dora Jimenez

What inspires you?
My family is my biggest inspiration. I have seen my parents work day and night in order to be able to provide for my sisters and me. Their hard work motivates me to keep striving toward the goals that I have set for myself. My sisters motivate me to become the best person I can be; being the oldest, I have to set an example for them by demonstrating integrity and persistence.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
My favorite subject in school is AP Physics. It can sometimes be a challenge, but that’s what keeps the class interesting.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
If I had the power to change one thing in the world it would be to make education available to everyone. Many people are deprived from receiving an education, causing many opportunities to be lost.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go to Mexico. Most of my family remains there and it would be amazing to see them once again after 15 years. It would also be a great opportunity to experience the culture my parents were surrounded by during their childhood.
Name one big challenge in your life right now.
The biggest challenge I am facing right now is figuring out how I’m going to pay for college.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is anything that involves computer technology because it has become a part of just about everything that touches our lives from the cars we drive, to the movies we watch, to the way businesses and governments communicate with us.
