Adrian Garcia Torres

Each month, the principals of Live Oak and Sobrato High Schools choose a total of four students (two from each school) to spotlight. Live Oak senior Adrian Garcia Torres, 16, is this week’s Student of the Week.

What inspires you? I get inspired when I see family and friends working hard to achieve their goals, and I think to myself that if they can achieve something, then anyone can.

What is your favorite subject in school, and why? My favorite subject is math because I like to solve mathematical problems and help my peers when they need help.

If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be? If I had the power to change one thing in the world it would be to stop all wars and make peace between people.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go? I would go and visit family and friends in Mexico. It has been a while since I’ve gone and I would really want to visit my grandma who is a little sick.

Name one big challenge in your life right now: A big challenge in my life right now is finding the right job so that I can be financially independent and wouldn’t have depended on my parents.

What is your dream job? My dream job is to become a mechanical engineer.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without? If I were stuck on a deserted island, I would not be able to live without my dog, a chef to cook me good food, and my phone.

Favorite book: My favorite book is “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain.

What are your plans post high school? My post high school plan is to go and study in a four year university.

Something that makes you smile: I smile when I am near family and friends.
