He was born in San Bernardino and lived in Hollister nearly all of his life. He married his wife, Leonore, in 1947 in San Juan Bautista, was a member of Sacred Heart Church and served his country honorably during WWII in the Army Air Corps and was employed with the local cannery for many years.
He spent his service time working on B52 Bombers. He was an avid Giants and 49ers fan and coached Hollister Little League for over 10 years, coaching the Red Sox.
He is survived by his wife, Leonore Leon of Hollister, his children, Anna Guevara of Hollister, Robert Leon (Lynne) of Hollister, Martin Leon of Hollister, Bonnie Sue Leon of Hollister and Rita Mae Leon of Hollister and his sister, Annie Quinonez of San Jose. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Leon and his sister and brothers, Paul Leon, Raul Leon, Rosie Torres and Lawrence Leon.
Friends can pay their respects on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rosary will be Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Mass will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church. Friends can come to the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. for a procession to the church. Entombment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
