Raymond P. (Chiefy) Vasquez passed away on March 17, 2007.

He was born and raised in Gilroy and attended local schools. He also attended Hartnell Junior College in Salinas. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Chiefy managed fast pitch teams here in Gilroy, as he had a deep love for the game. He was a retiree from FMC Corporation in San Jose, CA.

Raymond loved to go to concerts at the Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, loved music from the big band era, Jimmy Dorsey and many oldies but goodies.

He is survived by his mother Josephine Ramirez, two brothers: Roy & Ernie Ramirez, and his five children: Lydia O’Donovan, Linda Howe, Lizabeth Vasquez Ruiz, Raymond Vasquez, Jr. and Jenny Vasquez Rodriguez; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In remembrance, the family is requesting your presence at a memorial mass on April 17, 2007 in the Chapel of St. Mary Church at 10:00 A.M. Following, family and friends will gather for prayer at St. Mary Cemetery.
