Sobrato went 3-1 in its titular tournament over the weekend, playing in three close contests and losing a heartbreaker to start things off.
The Bulldogs are 4-1 overall this season.
Sobrato will now prepare to kick off Mt. Hamilton Division play, taking on Willow Glen in San Jose on Sept. 30.
The Bulldogs started off the tournament with a strong battle against Mitty, which coach David Burnett said swung on ejections.
Sobrato had nine ejections, which turned into five Mitty goals. The Bulldogs also had three shots that clanked off the crossbar.
The two teams were tied after the first quarter, each scoring a goal in the opening frame.
Mitty, however, pulled away in the second and third quarters, putting up three goals in the bookends of halftime.
Sobrato trailed 4-2 at the half and 7-3 after three.
The Bulldogs made a push to come back in the fourth, scoring three goals.
In their second game, the Bulldogs responded strong against Carlmont, putting things away quickly, leading 6-0 at the half and went on to win 9-0.
The next day, Sobrato got into another slugfest, this time surviving against Los Altos, 9-7.
The two squads were tied 5-5 after the Bulldogs put up four goals in the second quarter after trailing 3-1 in the first.
The defense came on strong in the third quarter, taking an 8-5 lead, shutting out Los Altos in the frame.
From there, the Bulldogs hung on despite yielding two goals in the fourth.
Sobrato finished off the tournament with a 5-2 win over Lynbrook.
Defenses came on strong to start the game, with the two teams holding a 1-1 tie at the half.
Sobrato went ahead in the third with a pair of goals and scored two more in the fourth to put things away.
Sobrato volleyball goes 0-3 in at Harbor Invite
The Bulldogs closed out the nonleague schedule with a trio of losses at the Harbor Invitational to fall to 2-7 to start the season.
Sobrato faced off against Sacred Heart Prep, Aptos and West (Tracy), falling six games to one while running the gauntlet.
Sacred Heart Prep won 25-15, 25-10 to kick things off.
Sobrato then fell 25-13, 25-15 to Aptos before falling to West in a thriller.
The Bulldogs fought to a 28-26 Game 1 win, before losing 25-18 loss in Game 2. West then took the final frame 15-8.
The Bulldogs will now travel to San Jose to take on Lincoln to kick off Santa Teresa Division play on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
