Sobrato’s Blossom Valley Athletic League Tournament run came to an abrupt end Tuesday, falling 56-42 at Leland.
The West Valley champions will now await their seedings in the CCS Playoffs, which begin next week.
Vanessa Gonzalez and Hazel Hill each finished with 14 points in an effort that saw a furious comeback attempt lose steam.
Sobrato went down 23-10 after the first quarter, but clawed its way back thanks to Gonzalez and Hill’s collective efforts.
The deficit was reduced to nine at the half and fell to seven after the third quarter.
Trailing 42-35 going to the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs were held to seven points in the final frame.
Gonzalez led the team with six boards, with Hill behind her with five.
Megan Yabumoto added seven points and Karly Rebozzi had five.
Sobrato’s first CCS game will take place Feb. 25. The time and opponent are to be determined.

Leigh 4, Sobrato 3
Sobrato did all it could to come back against Leigh, trailing 2-0 at the half.
The Bulldogs netted three goals in the second half to tie the game and looked to be on their way to an upset tie against the first place Longhorns despite giving up a third goal to Leigh.
Sobrato, however, yielded a goal late in the game and couldn’t find the equalizer to lose, 4-3.
Had the Bulldogs tied, it would have further given Live Oak a better chance at stealing the Mt. Hamilton Division title.
With the win, Leigh needs a tie against Branham to claim at least a share of the league title and a win to capture it outright.
Leigh could still capture an outright win with a tie with a Live Oak tie or loss.
Branham could capture an outright title if it beats Leigh and Live Oak loses or ties. Branham would share the title with a win if Live Oak wins.
Leland was eliminated from title contention with a loss Tuesday against Santa Teresa.
