The Morgan Hill Post Office is helping to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the city’s Independence Day parade with a special commemorative postcard that was handed out by Pony Express Riders along the July 4 parade route.
Each postcard received the commemorative pictorial cancellation when mailed out of the Morgan Hill Post Office, says a press release from the post office.
“We’re excited and honored to celebrate Morgan Hill and its rich history,” said Morgan Hill Postmaster Kulwinder Thandi. “This cancellation is a great reminder of the history and unique ties between USPS and our community. The Postal Service has proudly served the American public for more than 250 years (and) we understand the significance of this achievement.”
The pictorial postal cancellation stamp will remain available at the Morgan Hill Post Office, 16600 Monterey Road, for 30 days after July 4. Pictorial postmarks can also be obtained for anyone who could not attend the parade through Aug. 4.
For one or more of the commemorative postmarks, affix the minimum of a First Class stamp to an envelope or postcard, address the envelope or postcard to yourself or to others, insert a card of thickness in the envelope or envelopes, and tuck in the flaps, the press release instructs. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and mail to:
