Dear Editor,
As a retired NASA engineer, I’m deeply disappointed by District 11’s Representative Richard Pombo’s lack of vision for our nation’s energy future. Last year, he infamously dismissed the development of hydrogen fuels in a $2 billion alternative vehicle program proposed by President Bush. Pombo was caught whispering to House Whip Roy Blunt that such an alternative energy source was “bulls–t.” (The private remark was overheard by CNN reporter Ted Barrett.)
Maybe Pombo doesn’t realize that here in his very own district, Morgan Hill company Anaerobe Systems is well on its way to developing hydrogen as a potential fuel source to get America off its addiction to oil. Perhaps as chair of the House Resources Committee, Pombo’s been so busy pocketing money from Big Oil executives that he doesn’t have time to investigate hydrogen and other energy sources that will insure America’s long-term survival as a nation.
Pombo must go. Vote for someone with vision. If you can, vote for Pete McCloskey in the primary election on June 6.
Ken Mort, Morgan Hill
