She was born Pauline Owens on April 15, 1931, in Talequah, Okla. She moved to California in 1962 and settled in Morgan Hill in 1977. Polly was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She touched many people’s lives and was a source of strength, courage and love to her family and friends.
Polly enjoyed going for walks, fishing, playing with her grandchildren and being an avid cheerleader at their sporting events. She also loved to play golf and was a member of the ladies golf associations at Riverside and Santa Teresa, forming special bonds with many of her golfing partners.
Polly married Bud Blankenship; they had three children and were later divorced. She married Charles Pennock and they were happily married for 27 years.
Polly is survived by her daughter Debi Shaeffer; son-in-law Chuck; son Mike Blankenship; daughter-in-law Beth; brothers James Owens and Danny Owens; sisters Georgia Vance, Mary Owens and Lois Alexander; grandchildren Christopher and Elizabeth of Morgan Hill and Michelle and Matthew of Lewiston, Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.
Polly was preceded in death by her son, Chuck Blankenship.
A memorial service was today, Jan. 17, at Advent Lutheran Church.
The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, Western States Affiliate, One Almaden Blvd., Suite 500, San Jose, CA 95113-2214.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Johnson Funeral Home.
