MORGAN HILL POLICE:

Battery: A 21-year-old Morgan Hill male was taken to county jail charged with spousal abuse. The report was taken on Sept. 4 at 6:53 p.m.

• A 39-year-old Morgan Hill male was cited and released charged with domestic battery. The report was taken at 9:16 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Arrests and citations: A 32-year-old Morgan Hill male was taken to county jail charged with violation of a domestic order and brandishing a gun. The report was taken on Aug. 29 at 4:14 p.m.

• Geraldo F. Briseno, 27, of Burlingame and Ernesto G. Valenzuela, 28, of Burlingame were taken to county jail charged with criminal conspiracy and petty theft. The report was taken at 12:17 p.m. on Aug. 30.

• A 16-year-old Morgan Hill male was taken to juvenile hall charged with escape and giving false identification to an officer, and a 16-year-old male from San Martin was also taken to juvenile hall on a warrant and charged with escape. The report was taken on Aug. 31 at 4:33 p.m.

• A 17-year-old Morgan Hill female was cited and released charged with embezzlement from Mervyn’s. The report was taken at 11:02 a.m. on Sept. 1.

• David M. Jasper, 44, of Morgan Hill was cited and released on suspicion of being drunk in public. The report was taken on Sept. 3 at 10:30 p.m.

GILROY POLICE:

Theft: Police arrested Richard Anderson, 38, of Morgan Hill, and Earl Pike, 34, of San Jose, on Oct. 2 on a felony charge of commercial burglary in the reported theft of eight semi-truck tires, worth $200 each, from a 1260 First St. business. A police officer said he had reason to suspect Anderson and Pike after they arrived on the scene at 2 a.m. Oct. 2, while the officer was taking a report on the missing tires. Twelve other semi-truck tires, worth nearly $5,000, were reported stolen Monday morning from Gilroy Tire and Brake, 420 East Ninth St.

SHERIFF:

Assault with a deadly weapon: An argument between an 18-year-old San Martin youth and his stepfather became violent after the teen allegedly brandished a knife at 10:50 p.m. Saturday in front of their home on Harding Avenue. Deputies said the stepfather received cuts as the two struggled over the knife.

After the altercation the teen got in his vehicle, started it and rammed it into his stepfather’s parked vehicle, nearly hitting his stepfather. Deputies later arrested the 18-year-old and determined he was intoxicated, adding a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol to his felony assault charge.

Assault on a peace officer: Gary Petty, 59, of 2500-A Church Ave., Gilroy, reportedly threw used motor oil on a deputy who was investigating an allegation that Petty made death threats against his girlfriend. The incident took place at about 7:20 p.m.Oct. 3 at Petty’s home. Petty was charged with felonies for the alleged death threats and the alleged assault on the officer, plus a misdemeanor violation of a restraining order against his girlfriend.

Theft: Deputies are looking for tips regarding three burglaries of tools and other construction equipment from locked storage buildings at neighboring home-construction sites northeast of Gilroy. The burglars cut the locks with bolt cutters and took $5,000 worth of equipment from Russell Construction at 2549 Butch Drive, $2,900 worth of equipment from Mitchell Development at 2559 Butch Drive and an unspecified amount of equipment from 2590 Bridle Path road, at Butch Drive. The first two thefts was reported around noon Oct. 2; the third was reported at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.

• Deputies are looking for tips regarding a theft of $800 worth of plants from West Side Nursery, 3875 Hecker Pass Highway, west of Gilroy. The thieves acted overnight on Sept. 30 or Oct. 1 and cut a 2-foot-wide hole in a chain-link fence surrounding the nursery, deputies said.

Vandalism: The rear window of a car was shattered at 1640-B E. Main Ave., Morgan Hill, someone reported to Sheriff’s deputies at 4:46 p.m. Oct. 3. The owner estimated the window’s value at $500.
