July 25

Petty theft

  • Chevron gas station, East Dunne Avenue, 12:52pm. Two male suspects stole three cases of beer from the store.

  • Safeway grocery store, East Dunne Avenue, 8:41pm. a bicycle was stolen from in front of the store.

Vandalism

  • La Crosse Drive, 7:49pm. A resident reported approximately 10 juveniles on skateboards “tagging” in the area.

Arrests

  • Christopher Fowler, 24, July 23, 8:49pm on Monterey Road, on an outstanding warrant.

  • Two 16-year-olds, July 24, 11:45pm in Diana Park, for alleged possession of alcohol in public as a minor.

  • A 29-year-old, July 25, 5pm on Monterey Road, for alleged domestic violence.

Probation violation

  • Manuel Sanchez Gonzalez, 26, of Monterey Road in Gilroy, 8:30am, June 1 on Garlic Farm Road in Gilroy, for giving false information to an officer and a probation violation.

Public intoxication

  • Shane Edward Harvick, 26, of Morgan Hill, 9:20am, May 29 at Machado Elementary School on Sycamore Avenue, for public intoxication.

Driving under the influence

  • Enrique Romero Lopez, 38, of the 7300 block of Princevalle Street, 11:45pm, June 1 at the intersection of Chestnut and 10th streets, for driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, and failure to register as a sex offender.

  • Patrick Samir Asfour, 30, of the 1900 block of Saint Andrews Circle, 3:20am, June 1 at the intersection of Tennant Avenue and Church Street, for driving under the influence and driving without a valid license.

Controlled substances

  • Jose Trinidad Diaz, 22, of the 10000 block of Monterey Road, 3:18am, June 16 at the intersection of Monterey Highway and Las Animas Avenue, for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Rene Vargas, 24, of Farrell Road in Gilroy, 1:50pm, June 15 at the intersection of Bolsa and Bloomfield roads, for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

False identification

  • Brian Hugh Lane, 43, of La Crosse Way in Morgan Hill, 1pm, June 13 on San Bruno Avenue in Morgan Hill, for giving false identification to an officer.

Criminal threats

  • Thomas Joseph Haro, 26, of Arnold Drive in Gilroy, 10am, June 13 on Terri Court in Gilroy, for criminal threats.

Contempt of court

  • Marshal Phillip Galvan, 43, of the 17000 block of Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill, 12:30pm, June 17 at his address, on a warrant for being in contempt of court.

Other Sheriff incidents

Forgery

  • Three checks worth $510 belonging to a resident of Murphy Avenue in San Martin were forged between Dec. 6, 2005 and May 6, 2006. The victim’s wife is considered a suspect and is at large.

Burglary

  • An electric welder worth $1,000 was taken between 6am and 6:15am, May 31 from Bolsa Road in Gilroy.

  • Eighteen bracelets, 10 earrings, three rings, 12 flasks, five cases of Coca-Cola, a fountain, four cases of Full Throttle, two cases of Power Aid, a Havel Doll and a metal dolly were taken between 6:30pm, May 30 and 6:30am, May 31 from Casa de Wine on Pacheco Pass Highway. The items are worth at least $2130.

  • Three handguns and jewelry, worth at least $1,600, were taken between 6:30am and 4:45pm, May 30 from a home near the intersection of Manzanita Drive and Holiday Estates in Morgan Hill. The suspect also took the victim’s car, leaving the suspect’s vehicle behind. Sheriff’s deputies found blood and fingerprints.

  • A stereo, cases of energy drinks and surveillance camera tape were taken between 3:26am and 3:31am, May 29 from Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy.

  • Two televisions were taken between 6am and 6pm, June 9 from a home on Calle Uvas Road in Morgan Hill.

  • Items including a vinyl computer bag worth $130, a satellite radio worth $300, a camera and a knife were taken between 9pm, June 7 and 5am, June 8 from Oak Tree Place in Gilroy.

  • Birth certificates and a floor safe containing jewelry and more than $15,000 in $100 bills were taken between 9am and 5pm, June 12 from a home near the intersection of Hager Court and Columbet Avenue in San Martin.

  • June 7 at the intersection of Monterey Road and Cohansey Avenue, on a warrant for burglary.

Stolen vehicle recovered

  • A vehicle stolen from Sunnyvale, May 30 was recovered at

1:21am, May 31 near the intersection of Monterey Road and Church Avenue in San Martin.

  • A red Acura Integra stolen from Gilroy, June 10 was found at 3:17pm the same day in front of Cherries Etc. near the intersection of U.S. 101 and Castro Valley Road.

  • A vehicle stolen from San Jose was recovered at 9:30am, May 30 near the intersection of Murphy and Middle avenues in Morgan Hill. The vehicle’s front bumper, grill, radiator, engine, transmission, front seat, camper shell, tires and rims were taken.

Vandalism

  • A car window was shattered between 1am and 8:15am, May 31 on Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy.

Grand theft

  • One hundred tons of metal tie plates worth $70,000 were taken between 3pm, May 10 and 3pm, June 11 from railroad tracks between northbound U.S. 101 and Highway 25. The plates are marked with ‘5USS.’

Evasion

  • A witness identified Ricardo Mandujano, 30, of Carriage Drive in Morgan Hill, as the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt stolen from Salinas. A sheriff’s deputy recognized that the vehicle was stolen, and tried to stop it. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit began through Gilroy, spanning between 12:29am and 4am, June 17. The driver ran stop signs and “showed disregard for public safety,” a deputy reported. Later, the driver fled from the vehicle. Mandujano is still at large.

Marijuana cultivation

  • Rodrigo Carillo Peralta, 28, of Mesa Road in Gilroy, was discovered by sheriff’s deputies to be cultivating four marijuana plants in his backyard between 6pm, June 14 and 6pm, June 15. Peralta is at large.

Vehicle burglary

  • A speaker box worth $100 and a tool kit worth $60 were taken at 4:50am, June 12 from a vehicle parked on Shean Court in Gilroy.

Vehicle theft

  • Susan Diane Ketchum, 36, no address given, of Gilroy, 1am, June 10 at Wal-Mart in Gilroy, for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and providing an improper driver’s license.

Trespassing

  • Curron Michael Clark, 27, of Roseville, 1:30am, June 24 on Oak Glen Avenue in Morgan Hill, for trespassing.
