Proclaimed as one of the finest ragtime pianists in the world, Kirby presents a diverse and exciting program that includes the musical styles of classical and new ragtime, early jazz, boogie, and blues.
Audiences across the U.S. and in Europe have been thrilled by the performances of this very talented, classically trained pianist. Kirby’s concerts are peppered with selections from pioneers in syncopation like our own Scott Joplin and Joseph Lamb, Brazil’s Ernesto Nazareth, innovators like Eubie Blake and Jelly Roll Morton and modern composers like Hal Isbitz and David Thomas Roberts. Along with presenting rediscovered music of South American and Caribbean composers, Kirby includes some of his own intriguing compositions.
Kirby has made an extensive number of recordings both solo and in collaboration with other leading ragtime pianists. He continues to add to his recording credit with new solo CD releases.
