These giant metal letters welcoming people to Morgan Hill were recently installed at the corner of Watsonville and Uvas roads. The letters invite passersby to the nearby Sycamore Creek Vineyards, 12755 Uvas Road, which is home to the MOHI wine tasting room, where visitors can sample Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and other wines. MOHI Wine is also celebrating Valentine’s Day with “Sweethearts Night” on Feb. 11 from 6-10pm, featuring a three-course dinner and live music. For information and tickets, visit liveloveleal.com/vineyards/mohi-wine.
It looks ostentatious and tacky.
This sign is nothing but advertising — This is not ‘ART.’ I agree with Bret — it is ostentatious and very tacky. Additionally, it was erected without public input as far as I know.
Please remove it — if the winery wants it, then visitors to the winery can enjoy it there. I miss our peaceful corner.
How can this sign possibly be legal? I just checked the County sign ordinance for wineries. As far as I can tell, the max signage is 128 sq. Ft. I tried to roughly measure the sign today. I got 8 x 70’, or 560 sf. Plus, the pick-up truck parked there is effectively advertising.
Plus, as I read the ordinance, you need to add in other signs. There is also a sign of about 4 x 5 on the other side of the road.
Am I missing some point?
