The team’s core group is from the Division II runner up team at the Junior Pee Wee level last year. The team moved up to Division I this year and got off to a strong start.
The defense allowed only 12 yards of offense and surrendered just one first down. The revamped offense tallied three scores and gained 168 yards and 12 first downs on the day.
Anthony Villarreal led the offense with 47 yards on 16 carries from the quarterback spot and also connected on five of seven passes for 42 yards and one touchdown pass to Hunter Sutton.
Tyler Lerma ran for 34 yards on nine carries and Danny Saporito carried the ball late in the game for 21 yards on four tries.
