The wealthiest taxpayers could be hit hard if the tax hikes in President Obama's 2013 federal budget proposal become law.

In order to graduate high school, freshmen students must be successful in their English 9, Biology and Algebra 1 classes. However, the Sobrato Counseling Office has found that there are a large amount of students, who, in their freshmen year, are already in danger of not graduating due to low grades in these three courses. As they began to consider options to help these students along a path of success, they looked beyond traditional tutoring and calls home to parents and arrived at what they christened the “Academic Triathlon.”

It seems that every other week in the media someone is apologizing for something. President Obama apologized to the Afghan people for the accidental burning of the Koran. The reverend Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, apologized to President Obama for questioning his Christian faith in a cable network interview.

The college admissions process is a confusing stew of acronyms, jargon and can’t-miss deadlines that’s difficult even for students who enjoy every advantage. Now imagine trying to navigate it if your parents didn’t attend college, aren’t native English speakers, or work long hours at low-paying jobs to make ends meet and don’t have the time or information to help.

This should be a no-brainer. The student meets all the requirements to graduate, passes the California High School Exit Exam. But Morgan Hill Unified School District refuses to grant some students regular diplomas.Why? He or she is a foreign exchange student.

Picture Virginia Wolfe paired with Godzilla Eats Manhattan and you have what plays out in this comedy, which has been translated into 35 languages and performed around the world.

South County residents will have a great opportunity to hear fine music and support a worthy cause on Thursday, April 12. A benefit concert to raise funds for the Gilroy Compassion Center will be held at 7 p.m. at South Valley Community Church, 8095 Kelton Drive in Gilroy.

Have you noticed over the last couple of months a proliferation of publications making grandiose proposals to “Get Organized?” Gone (and good riddance!) are those slick magazines pledging “Your Best Thanksgiving Feast EVER!” and “Countdown to your MOST MEMORABLE Christmas!” Apparently, after all that feasting and memorable-ness, we suddenly feel the urge to rehab our nests.
