The Santa Clara County Office of Education is preparing to undertake a search for its next superintendent after an announcement that Xavier De La Torre is the lone finalist for a superintendent job in El Paso, Texas.

Parents upset over restructuring aide job for autism students

The Morgan Hill Unified School District school board voted unanimously Tuesday night to restructure all aides within the district into a new position. This new position, called a paraprofessional, would see a 5-percent salary increase compared to the current instructional aide position, but at the expense of the paraeducators, who will see a 30-percent cut in their salary.

MH student succeeds in Valley Christian business challenge

Morgan Hill resident Kayla Womach, a ninth grader at Valley Christian High School, (second from left in photo) was part of a four-person team to win the President’s Business Challenge, a Business & Entrepeneurship Initiative at the San Jose private school. Her team won money totaling $1,000 for the team. The winning team was announced at the annual BEI Banquet, which was held May 5 at Valley Christian High School. Through the BEI, students not only learn core business concepts through school-day courses, but are also given the chance to apply what they learn through numerous business programs, according to the school.

Teachers Aid Coalition Appreciates Donations

TAC Fundraising Chairperson Judy Beshears has announced that TAC received a $1,000 grant from the Morgan Hill Rotary Club to help teachers a local schools purchase classroom supplies. It's estimated teachers spend an average of $600 to $800 a year to purchase the materials.
