The demand for Covid-19 testing has jumped throughout Santa Clara County in recent weeks—a workload that public health officials welcome as part of a broader strategy to rein in the spread of the coronavirus that has resulted in another wave of indoor and public gathering restrictions all over the Bay Area and beyond.
County moves to most restrictive ‘purple tier’
Under a Nov. 16 directive from Gov. Gavin Newsom, Santa Clara County will revert to the state’s most restrictive reopening tier due to the rapidly increasing rate of Covid-19 cases being transmitted among the community.
